Dear Parents,
We're thrilled that your son or daughter has chosen VCU or is considering VCU, and we hope to have the joy of getting to know them during this pivotal time of their life! We love VCU and trust that your son or daughter will have a life-changing four years here.

A s I think back to the time when I entered college (VCU Class of 2005), I remember my own parents' mixed emotions as they watched me move into this next phase of my life. If you're anything like they were, you're probably approaching this with a mix of pride, excitement, doubt, and maybe even downright fear. After all, college is a time when students are faced with many decisions that will impact the rest of their lives, all while trying to figure out who they are and who they want to become!

We care deeply about every aspect of your son or daughter's life, and we believe that Jesus does too. We believe that He desires to intersect students' lives in college, leaving a profound and transformative impact on their whole lives - from their academics to their friendships, their dorm life, their activities and interests, the way they use their time and resources, etc. But we don't just want to be a place that will give your son or daughter helpful advice or keep them from making poor choices. We long to be a place where students encounter Jesus, are changed by His love and grace, and find their purpose in His mission to heal our world.

We are a community in mission at VCU, and this means being a place where students encourage one another towards Christ, while reaching out with his love to bless our campus. We believe that God is at work at VCU, and we seek opportunities to join Him by sharing the gospel and being His hands and feet on campus. We're a place where all are welcome - from those who are far from Jesus to those who have followed him for many years. We desire that all who are a part of our community will move toward Him and know Him more. And we hope that Jesus will be a part of shaping your son or daughter's life and identity while at VCU, not just for the next four years, but the next 40 years of their life.

I hope this gives you some idea of who we are and makes you feel a little more at peace about your son or daughter's future at VCU. If you have any comments or questions, please don't hesitate to email me. I would love to help your son or daughter get connected with an InterVarsity student!

Thank you and God bless,
Kip Hart
